Nice guys – still assholes.

Welcome back. So anyway Geek Sheik read the entry immediately after I posted it. He said it was funny and accurate. But then he said, “I’m not sure whether this is really cool or somewhat embarrassing. I said, “well no one knows who you are, and if you don’t want me to write about you, I won’t.”

Anyway he said that he didn’t mind me writing about him but he had something he wanted to tell me. Please note, the following conversation is over IM (with some minor edits):

GS: something else, that maybe I should have brought up sooner. Do you know I'm dating {insert girls name here}?
NotIntoYou: you are not are you?
GS: I am. we both date other people though.
NotIntoYou: oh, well, ummm
GS: this is going in a direction I hadn't really expected.
NotIntoYou: I'm sorry
GS: it's ok. but I want to be at least reasonably upfront with you about this. (had I been really upfront, I'd have told you this weekend, and I'm sorry I didn't, I got caught up in things)
NotIntoYou: well...um, I can't date you
GS: *sigh* fair enough. do you hate me/think I'm a bastard?
NotIntoYou: Kinda. while we're being perfectly honest
GS: this seemed just like fun flirting at first. especially since I knew your rule.
and then it seems like this weekend it turned much more serious very quickly.
NotIntoYou: well, it does take 2
GS: it does. and I was unfair to you. and I am really sorry. I feel like dirt. *sigh*
NotIntoYou: no offense, but you should
GS: none taken.
NotIntoYou: I really kinda fucking hate you right now
GS: which I richly deserve.
NotIntoYou: wow I feel like such a fucking moron
GS: why?
NotIntoYou: how the hell would I know you were dating {insert girls name here}?
GS: from the night we were out?
NotIntoYou: uhhhh no???
GS: oh. wishful thinking on my part, I guess.
NotIntoYou: you were flirting with me in front of the girl you were seeing...who is a friend of mine
GS: I've done it before, with her blessing.
NotIntoYou: how long have you two been dating?
GS: a year
NotIntoYou: holy shit
GS: I really did think, at least at first, that you had known.
NotIntoYou: I really have no idea what to say
GS: I do like you, and I'm sorry the circumstances aren't different. I'm also really sorry that I've hurt you.
NotIntoYou: well okay

So yeah, I don’t even know what to say.

At this point the crazy guys are out, the assholes are out, and now it looks like even the seemingly nice guys are out. I guess it’s time to move to the catatonic guys or women (I know many of you would support me in that decision). I mean, it’s just fucking frustrating. You can never get excited about someone ever, because sooner or later it is going to blow up in your face.
